Course Objectives: Oral diseases and conditions impact the quality of life of the elderly including comfort, eating, pain and appearance. Older adults need to be able to eat and talk comfortably, be free of pain, maintain self-esteem, maintain high standards of hygiene and the care they have had throughout their lives. Better oral care for older adults requires a team approach that focuses on regular dental check-ups, daily mouth care, and cleaning. This in-service focuses on oral thrush prevention and treatment for caregivers that provide care to seniors and also children.
