Course Objectives: Assistive devices include a wide range of devices and equipment that help individuals including the elderly and the disabled perform a task or prevent injury. Assistive technologies promote independence as they compensate for sensory, physical, and cognitive impairments they promote safety for vulnerable individuals. This in-service describes assistive technology as utilized by the elderly and disabled patients. It’s intended to broaden the knowledge of professional care providers about assistive technologies and how to provide care for patients with assistive devices.
